New Frontiers in Ultrafast Quantum Optics is a summer school dedicated to the emerging topics arising from the rapidly converging fields of ultrafast photonics and quantum science, which together are revolutionizing our ability to probe, measure, and control quantum dynamics at electronic time scales. On the one hand, electric-field-resolved sensing, empowered by developments in ultrafast science, has pierced a hole into the quantum realm, revealing novel effects that eluded standard quantum optical approaches. On the other hand, quantum states of light are providing novel tools for the manipulation of electronic states down to the attosecond time scale, in turn advancing well-established applications of ultrafast photonics, such as spectroscopy and imaging. The interplay between these two disciplines is leading to new investigation tools and raising fundamental questions, advancing our understanding of light-matter interactions. We have therefore planned to cover a range of topics at the interface between quantum mechanics and ultrafast optics:

  • Sub-Cycle Quantum Electrodynamics and Field Domain Spectroscopy
  • Ultrafast Quantum Spectroscopy and Imaging
  • Attosecond Quantum Phenomena and Free-Electron Quantum Optics
  • Ultrafast Quantum Chemistry and Photonics; Fundamental Fluctuations in Condensed MatterPtic
